# How to Approve Knit Accessory Samples Before Bulk Production
Sample approval is one of the most important moments in a knit accessory programme. It is where a buyer can check whether the product brief has been translated into the correct material, construction, fit and retail presentation. A structured review helps prevent the approved sample from becoming a vague reference after production starts.
Hunan Tongmei Garment Co., Ltd can support buyers with requirement clarification, sample communication, production confirmation and quality discussions.
Review the Sample Against a Written Brief
Start with the approved tech pack, not memory. Compare the sample with the intended silhouette, measurements, composition, colour, stitch direction, labels and packaging. If a detail is acceptable but different from the original idea, update the brief so the production standard is explicit.
| Review area | Questions for buyers |
|---|---|
| Fit and dimensions | Does the product fit the intended consumer and size range? |
| Material and hand feel | Is the yarn or fabric aligned with the desired retail position? |
| Colour and pattern | Are shades and repeat placement accepted? |
| Construction | Are cuffs, seams, edges and attachments consistent? |
| Branding | Are labels, hangtags and decoration positioned correctly? |
| Packaging | Does the product arrive and display as intended? |
Check Fit, Stretch and Recovery
Knit products should be handled, worn and measured. A beanie needs to recover after stretching. Gloves should be assessed on the intended hand sizes. Scarves and blankets should be checked at their full dimensions. Do not approve based only on an unmeasured flat image.
Review relevant categories including Custom knitted hats, Knit gloves, Custom scarves and Knitted blankets.
Confirm Material and Colour
Review the composition statement, yarn appearance and colour against the intended standard. If a Pantone reference, lab dip or approved swatch is used, record it with the sample feedback. Buyers should note whether small variations are acceptable and which features are critical to the retail identity.
Inspect Trims and Decoration
Labels, patches, embroidery, pom-poms, buttons and packaging components should be reviewed for placement, attachment and appearance. Ask how each component will be controlled during production. If the item is for children or includes a special claim, confirm the relevant requirements with appropriate market and certification specialists before releasing the purchase order.
Capture Changes Clearly
The most useful sample feedback is specific. Instead of writing “make softer,” describe the issue, the expected result and the priority. Use annotated photos where helpful. Keep one version-controlled approval record that lists each change, its status and the final decision.
Create a Pre-Production Confirmation
Before bulk production starts, confirm the final sample reference, measurement specification, material direction, colour standard, labels, packaging, inspection points and shipping marks. A brief confirmation meeting or written checklist can align buyer and supplier teams around the same version.
